Job Description

Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Quality Conformance Manager I to join our team based in Mobile, AL.

The Quality Conformance Manager I will administer the ongoing development of the Quality Management System. Responsibilities include:

  • Investigate specific quality issues arising from system failures or design deficiencies to reduce the cost of non-quality and foster continuous improvement.
  • Support quality on-time and on-cost delivery to increase customer loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Resolution of complex quality issues and management of continuous improvement projects.
  • Set measurement standards and improvements to increase process performance, reliability, and repeatability to meet regulatory and customer requirements.

Our Engineers at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facility take our aircraft from concept to customer delivery, working with production teams on every aspect of assembly.

Your Working Environment

Welcome to the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft, established in 2015 at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley. This facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019, supporting Airbus' strategy to enhance global competitiveness and meet customer needs.

Your Challenges

Quality Management System Support: 60%

  • Uphold the standard of Airbus Core Values by welcoming challenges with integrity, commitment, and teamwork.
  • Demonstrate creativity and implement innovations using lean methodologies to meet company objectives.
  • Analyze non-conformities and operational surveillance to initiate corrective actions.
  • Define and improve Quality Processes by identifying non-quality drivers and reducing defects.
  • Communicate performance reports to management while supporting inspection personnel regarding quality issues.
  • Develop dashboards and tools to identify deficiencies in the quality system.
  • Monitor qualification of new personnel and introduce new tools into process flows.
  • Perform operational surveillance to ensure compliance with standards and conduct regular meetings with quality teams.

Continuous Improvement: 25%

  • Utilize root cause analysis tools to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective action plans.
  • Create quality alerts to raise awareness of issues.
  • Facilitate Practical Problem Solving activities and review findings to identify trends.
  • Apply lean principles to increase efficiency and quality within the department.

Compliance: 15%

  • Implement and monitor Quality Management System compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure adherence to service level agreements.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned at management discretion.

Your Boarding Pass

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in technology, aviation, engineering, business, or related experience.
  • Required: 2 years of experience in aviation quality, industrial or manufacturing engineering, data analytics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of proactive prevention, continuous improvement, and relevant regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, adapt to changing environments, and work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology, Aerospace, Aviation Management, or related engineering field.
  • 2 years of experience in Airbus quality inspection or manufacturing engineering.
  • Valid FAA A&P license or ASQ Quality Engineer Certificate.
  • Knowledge of additional languages such as French, German, or Spanish.

Licensure/Certifications

  • Required: None.

Technical Systems Proficiency

  • Familiar with SAP system.
  • Intermediate computer skills and ability to launch virtual meetings.

Travel Required

  • 10% Domestic and International.

Eligibility

  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Clearance

  • None.

Physical Requirements

  • Onsite 100%.
  • Ability to see and read computer screens, documents, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to hear and participate in conversations and safety warnings.
  • Ability to operate office and production tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to walk through office and production areas.
