Overview

Boeing Global Services (BGS) Jacksonville is seeking Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Aircraft Mechanic - Structures who are motivated to support a greater cause by providing critical maintenance repairs and modifications for our military customers. Responsibilities

Position responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Identify fasteners such as rivets, blind rivets, screws, hi-lok, bolts, or lock bolts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, process data sheets, and maintenance instruction manuals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning, corrosion prevention and control, polish, or dry wash tasks.
  • Knowledge of common fastener sizes and correct cutting tools for removal and installation processes.
  • Remove and reinstall access panels and fairings; remove damaged screws without damaging surrounding structure.
  • Ability to safety wire and install cotter pins.
  • Ability to apply aircraft finishes (primer and paint), Alodine, and sealants.
  • Ability to close tolerance drill within .001 and precision measure within .0005 in metallic and composite structures.
  • Perform structural repairs and modifications on strike fighters, commercial derivative aircraft, and flight control components.
  • Utilize measuring tools such as micrometer, dial caliper, grip gauges, feeler gauge, depth gauge, trimic, and bore gauges.
  • Fabricate, locate, trim, drill/ream, and assemble metallic and composite components; make major/minor modifications to aircraft skins and structural components.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in aircraft technical log books, maintenance documentation, work packages, and zonal handovers.
  • Highlight technical issues or discrepancies to the program lead and manager.

General Responsibilities

  • Execute all duties while wearing required safety equipment.
  • Complete required company and specific statement of work training requirements.
  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.
  • Demonstrate a safe work ethic.
  • Ability to lift and utilize tools, materials, and equipment within Boeing lifting standards (max 35 lb per person; 45 lb for 2 persons).
  • Perform detailed tool inventories daily.
  • Communicate using basic computer systems including Microsoft Office as needed to complete essential job requirements.
  • Contribute positively to an open and honest reporting culture.
  • Report all incidents in the Boeing Safety Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain a high standard of organization and cleanliness within assigned work areas, practicing “Clean as You Go.”
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Be flexible to ensure aircraft are delivered on time to the customer.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of Aircraft Mechanic experience (commercial, defense, or relevant trade apprenticeship considered).
  • 3+ years of experience in reading engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • Ability to close tolerance drill within .003 and precision measure within .003.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • FAA certification in Airframe and/or Powerplant.
  • Ability to close tolerance drill within .001 and precision measure within .0005.
  • Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance and environment processes (Human Factors, FOD control, tool control, health & safety & COSHH).

Shift

This position is for 1st and/or 2nd shift. Candidates must be able to work any shift assigned.

Pay & Benefits

Eligible employees can enroll in various benefit programs, typically including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and programs for paid and unpaid time away from work.

Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations. Summary pay range: $57,800 - $78,200.

Relocation

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.

Export Control Requirement

This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required, including U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
