Overview

As the Lead Quality In-Process and RTS Inspector, you will lead daily in-process inspections and final Return to Service (RTS) approvals for repaired components. You will also oversee a dedicated inspection team, providing hands-on leadership, technical training, and guidance to both Quality and Maintenance departments.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection Leadership: Lead and perform in-process and final RTS inspections to ensure all components meet engineering and regulatory data.
  • Team Oversight: Direct, train, mentor, and prioritize daily tasks for Quality In-Process and RTS Inspectors.
  • Technical Guidance: Interpret maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, and OEM data to provide clear inspection direction.
  • Precision Testing: Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, torque wrenches, and ohm meters.
  • Records Verification: Audit inspection records, continuity sheets, cure reports, and final maintenance documentation for accuracy before signing off on RTS.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Coordinate directly with Maintenance Technicians to streamline inspection requests and report quality trends to leadership.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Requirements/Qualifications

Your Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree in related field (aviation or maintenance mechanic) or equivalent preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not required.

Your Experience

  • 7+ years’ experience in FAA Part 145 aircraft/component structural and composite repair.
  • Documented experience with in-process and RTS inspections.
  • Qualification for assigned RTS functions required.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification is beneficial but not required.

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance, including overtime and weekend assignments as required.
  • Notify supervisor prior to shift start if unable to report to work.
  • Maintain reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Perform all work in accordance with FAA regulations, approved technical data, and company procedures.
  • Follow all company safety policies and operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting for extended periods.
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.

Mental Requirements

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Working Conditions

The majority of work will be accomplished in a shop environment.

  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
  • Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
  • Personal computer and work order prints.
