Standard Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pilot Instructor to join our team at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point. As a key member of our Lockheed Martin training team, you will play a critical role in shaping the next generation of F-35 pilots.

About the Role:

• Provide expert instruction and guidance to F-35 pilots, utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as Electronic Mediated Lecture (EML), Interactive Courseware (ICW), and Full Mission Simulators (FMS).

• Develop and deliver academic training programs, flight procedures, and simulator training to ensure pilots are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

• Collaborate with other instructors and subject matter experts to ensure the highest quality training programs.

•Operate Instructor Operating Stations (IOS) and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for pilot training courseware updates.

Requirements:

Must be willing to travel within the United States (CONUS) and outside the United States (OCONUS) for up to 89 days at a time.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience working in a team environment, supporting and implementing Lockheed Martin initiatives and policies.

Basic Qualifications

• Candidate must have active secret clearance and with investigation within 6 years be able to qualify for access to Special Access Required (SAR) programs.

• Candidate must have a minimum of 1000 hours Fighter Flight Time in forth and/or fifth generation multi-role fighter aircraft.

• Former Instructor Pilot (IP) experience required.

• Candidate must have in-depth knowledge of forth and/or fifth generation aircraft systems, operational experience with advanced sensor systems such as Night Vision devices, EO/IR targeting systems, Helmet Mounted Cuing, and the latest air-to-surface and air-to-air weapons inventory.

• Candidate must have prior experience in delivering military pilot academics and simulator training, and be familiar with current instructional techniques and delivery methods.

• Candidate should have experience working in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams and stakeholders from various backgrounds and disciplines.

• Candidate must have outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent leadership traits, strong oral & written communication abilities, solid ability to organize, and a high desire to provide customer satisfaction.

• Must be willing to travel CONUS and OCONUS for up to an 89 day period of time.

• Use of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) is required

Desired Skills

• Current or demonstrated experience as an USAF/USN/USMC IP with multi-role fighter experience. Former Weapon School, Top Gun, or MAWTS graduate desired.

• Fifth generation Full Mission Simulator (FMS) experience as an operator and/or instructor.

• F-35 flight experience is highly desired.

• Candidate should have a minimum of 1000 hours Fighter Flight Time in fourth and/or fifth generation multi-role fighter aircraft

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $133500.00 - $247900.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
