Description

Position Summary

Plans, organizes, directs and controls the maintenance operations. Ensures compliance with all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements. Oversees maintenance operations to ensure timely delivery of quality-finished aircraft products to customers. Ensures the development, implementation, and administration of policies and procedures for areas of responsibility. Develops current and long-range objectives and operational plans for assigned functional areas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs and controls maintenance operations in accordance with current Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), manufacturers’ recommendations, customers’ controlled manuals, company policies, and any current industry standards acceptable to the FAA.
  • Coordinates with Program Managers, Director of Strategic Planning, and Director of Quality and Compliance on aircraft priorities and manpower needs.
  • Designs and maintains infrastructure that supports the safe execution of operations consistent with Flightstar’s key drivers of People, Customers, Shareholders, and Community.
  • Develops and implements current and long-range objectives and operational plans for assigned functions.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates the efforts of department personnel toward the accomplishment of company objectives. Provides direction, motivation, informational support, and coaching to direct report personnel.
  • Directs the development, administration, interpretation, and application of effective policies and procedures within areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures that operations in areas of responsibility are conducted in compliance with applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Develops and/or reviews and approves implementation of initiatives to improve performance, productivity, and cost effectiveness in areas of responsibility.
  • Prepares and/or reviews data, reports, budgets, schedules, and projections to determine the status of current operations; to determine the impact of changes and new business on functional objectives and goals; and to identify and plan changes in functional activities, goals or objectives.
  • Initiates and recommends approval of personnel actions including time off, pay changes, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and leaves of absence.
  • Interviews, selects and/or recommends the hire of employees; and provides appropriate training for departmental personnel.
  • Documents, reports, and investigates all accidents in accordance with SMS policy and procedures.
  • Will perform verbal coaching records to adjust/improve employee performance in accordance with company expectations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Profile

  • Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology or related field; or equivalent background providing knowledge of appropriate business, industry, and technical principles, procedures and management techniques preferred.
  • Languages: Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Spanish a plus.
  • Special Licenses: A&P License in good standing required.
  • Previous Experience: Minimum 10 (ten) years related experience, including at least eight years in a project management and supervisory capacity, providing knowledge of tier one customer’s aircraft maintenance program. Integrated operations management experience required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications to include: Outlook, Excel, Word, and Project. Advanced knowledge of Flightstar’s ERP and SMS system.
  • Required Skills:
    • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
    • Keen interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff and customers from multiple locations.
    • Expert level written and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to people at all levels within the organization.
    • Strong judgment and emotional maturity with proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
