ABX Aircraft Technician (Casual) - JFK

Overview

The Casual Aircraft Technician will perform preventive maintenance, repairs, modifications, and other line maintenance of aircraft, components, and related equipment in accordance with specified manuals, procedures, and FAA regulations. Responsibilities include communication with all departments within the company, travel for station coverage, training, and other maintenance support, working outside in all types of weather, being on-call as needed, and assisting with property and environmental issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on aircraft and components.
• Communicate with all departments, including AFC and the airport authority.
• Travel for station coverage, training, and maintenance support.
• Work outside in various weather conditions.
• Be on-call as needed for maintenance support.
• Assist Airport Planning/Properties with property and environmental issues.
• Maintain station manuals, parts, and tooling inventory.
• Assist with aircraft deicing, snow removal, GSE maintenance, and MXI work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have HSD/GED.
• A & P License.
• Ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot aircraft systems.
• Technical knowledge of aircraft systems, focusing on types operated by ABX.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and evaluate structural damage.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Self-motivation, integrity, cooperation, professionalism, and leadership qualities.
• Ability to travel on company aircraft as required.
• Ability to stoop, bend, and manipulate tools in small spaces.
• Ability to work in adverse outdoor conditions.
• Wear respirator/safety protective equipment as indicated.
• Lift objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Perform work at heights up to 60 ft.

Preferred Skills

• 4 years of experience in all phases of commercial transport aircraft.
• 2 years of hands-on line maintenance experience on types of aircraft operated by ABX.
• Experience with 757 or 767 aircraft.
